Project Overview |
Process |
In this project we create prints using several methods and refining our skills over the period of several weeks. Print making is a technique used to make multiple copies of a design using ink or paint. There are several forms of printmaking including relief prints, screen prints, monoprints, lithographs, and intaglios. Print making is not only considered art, but fun inexpensive, and allows art to be remade many times and best of all it wont change at all. After making our pieces, we used symbolism in our proofs and final pieces to reflect ourselves and look deeper into the meaning of our prints.

The process we began with was looking at other prints and finding details and techniques within them and implementing them into our own designs. Following this, we sketched out our own design, I was inspired by the ocean and waves so I took my additional ideas to elaborate with more artist choice inside the draft. After this, I began the process of drawing my piece onto my block. Once I had drawn my design onto my block, I began carving out the negative space to achieve the imagery I wanted to. Beginning with the printing process, I used a brayer to evenly distribute block printing ink from the plexiglass onto block. During our printing process we made many drafts and prints you can see a couple below.
