When I was younger I had never asked myself any questions about my place in the world, but as I get older, and I look into jobs or carriers I would want to pursue this question arises more, and more. In the future I feel like I wont care about my place in life as much in carrier as what I give to the world. I find that it makes me much happier when I give then when I work for money. As I have found in the past I enjoy work so much more when I am not being payed verses when I do. Although this is still subjective, and it is always nice to get payed there is a much different stress level, and people stay much more laid back. In the future I want to be able to work for myself doing freelance work so that I am able to drop, and switch what I am doing so it will stay fresh, and be able to support my volunteer work. This idea relates a lot to Job's speech. He went to school, and saw that it wasn't for him which is what I have found in my experience, and also how many opportunities you can have if you don't go to school. I have found that experience can be as or more important to people than schooling. Steve Job's said and it will always stick with me "Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” In my opinion he is the best example of "turning down the best, and finding the better." He said, "As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle." Although I don't want to run a multi-million dolor business I find the fundamentals of how he got into his carrier similar to mine.
Reflection
This assignment was one that I really enjoyed as I was able to share my story, as well as my personal opinion on schooling. I think that this was an amazing case where I was able to get to know myself. The main reason though why I chose this assignment was because I looked at other sources, and took there opinions and was able to compare, and contrast theirs to my own. That is something that I haven't been able to do too much with things this personal. In the end this was one of the many assignments this semester that have helped me to progress in my writing carrier.
