“High School Student’s Ingenious Solution Could Save Bees From Drinking Poisonous Water” Good News Network April 5, 2018 Article by: McKinley Corbley A student by the name of Derek Woo invented a way to save bee’s. It is about how he found a way to keep chemicals out of water. All of those chemicals come from plants and they are mostly from farmers.
This is an event where a student fixed the problem of bees dying from chemicals in the soil. That is because the chemicals in the soil goes into the plant, and onto the leaves where the bees drink from. This is something that has been a problem for a while I think that it is an issue that is well overdue. Not only is this an amazing thing, but this was all done by a single high school student. He used a type of charcoal called biochar. Biochar is able to absorb all of those bad chemicals and best of all it is safe for the environment. This all happened in a school called “Greenwich High School” in Connecticut. This event is an amazing step in science. This was very needed because of the fact that bees are dying out, and there will need to be a solution considering that farmers aren’t very worried about the environment when using pesticides. This on the other hand was able to solve the problem, and have no negative affect for the farmers. My personal opinion on this event is that it is amazing what school can do. No matter where you go there will always be one person against the current schooling system This shows that at least one part of it allows students to make changes that are life changing for humans, and our fellow animals. I think we can all agree that we are taking one step backward, but the two steps forward are what matter.
