What was explained in this chapter? What about this chapter was interesting to you?
*Explain for Each* Chapter 8: "Not Marble, nor the Gilded Monuments" This chapter talks about how Shakespeare isn't perfect or all that bad. I found this chapter very interesting. It talks about how he had no sympathy for the poor. Also it talked about how his lack of religion also changed a lot of his thinking from others back then. What I enjoyed most about this chapter was how Shakespeare was an imperfect person, as we all are. He was no where near an idol, but yet his idea on lifestyle was so appealing that it stuck. I also found it very weird that he had no religion, as this was just after globalism so it was hard to have "free" views on religion. Chapter 9: "A King of Infinite Space" This chapter talked about what life would be like without Shakespeare. It goes on to say, what if he was just another one of those lost children, with a nameless grave. Then it talks about skulls, and how different they are now. Back then they were a way to scare people, but now they signify remembrance of death, and kind of a slap in the face saying, "You know you can die right?" All of this is because of Shakespeare. Over all this chapter was my favorite. That is because it is so Interesting. I wonder if we would even have a democracy if Shakespeare didn't tell people that they cared in the world. On the other hand due to people being people it most likely would have happened eventually, because there are a finite amount of genes (although massive). I think that if it wasn't him it would have happened eventually, thats if it hadn't happened before him, but he died? There are so many questions we can have, and all are amazing points. Chapter 10: "To Be or Not to Be" this chapter talks about how any of the previous chapters can help you to understand that Shakespeare is one of the most important figures in history if not the most. This chapter goes on to sat that no other writer has changed English so much. Then it talks about "Who is Shakespeare?" This chapter gave me goose bumps, because that question can't be answered. You can make up things, but bottom line is that we don't even know when he was born, how long he lived, or even if Shakespeare even did these things, although his name was on the papers. Overall this book is a defiant recommend and an amazing book. I will be commenting on Elisabeth's, and Alex's Blog's.

I swear each time I read your blog post I learn something new or I am enlightened in some new and interesting perspective. I found your summary of these three chapters so interesting. My favorite chapter of the three was chapter three. I never really thought about Shakespeare as a person but as an idea. You brought up not knowing anything about Shakespeare's past or if he/she was a person at all. I find it interesting how we label great works of art with his/her name but are unsure of his/her existence.
